An electrical junction box is a container for electrical connections, usually intended to conceal them from sight and deter tampering. A small metal or plastic junction box may form part of an electrical conduit wiring system in a building, or may be buried in the plaster of a wall, concealed behind an access panel or cast into concrete with only the lid showing. It sometimes includes terminals for joining wires.
Prior to the events of the game, most of the junction boxes were damaged and are required to be repaired in order to unlock or proceed into certain areas in the game. There are two types of junction boxes, the basic ones are the easiest, the players are capable of repairing them, however the advance ones are more complex and requires the skill of an Engineer in order to repair it.
