Blair's UFO (1) - The Thing (1982)

Blair's UFO, as seen in The Thing (1982).

Blair's UFO is a miniature version of the spacecraft which brought the Thing to Earth. Constructed under the tool shed, the craft was secretly built by the Blair-Thing during its confinement there and was pieced together using components salvaged from station's helicopter and tractor. Appearing in the 1982 film The Thing, the craft was also featured in the 2002 video-game of the same name, where the player can discover it in the ruins of U.S. Outpost 31.

Background[]

The craft is discovered by MacReady, Garry, and Nauls when they travel to the tool shed to test Blair's identity using a blood test. However, once they reach the tool shed, the door is wide open and Blair is nowhere to be found. Lifting the floorboards, they discover a hole which leads to a hollowed out space under the tool shed. Surrounded by tools, there sits a partially-finished saucer-shaped craft. The men strap together several sticks of dynamite and roll it into the cavern, demolishing the vehicle and the building.

In the 2002 video game sequel, Blake and his men from Arctic Marines Beta Team discover the remains of Blair's UFO when inspecting Outpost 31. The UFO is charred and partially destroyed.
