The aircraft carrier rupture is a boss creature that was intended for inclusion in The Thing II, a planned sequel to the 2002 video game The Thing. However, it was ultimately scrapped after developer Computer Artworks entered receivership in October 2003[1]. Although cancelled, pre-production art guides were released, revealing the developers' vision for the game.

Background[]

According to the art guide description, the creature was planned to be one of the end of level bosses. The aircraft carrier rupture is large and powerful and takes up a large amount of the ship's deck, spilling out of and around a wrecked Sea King helicopter. It is a largely amorphous mass of pulsing and throbbing flesh, and attacks using distorted/mutated humans that have been integrated into it.
